COM-UT Technologies pledged again to show its fleet management solutions (AVL) to the participants in the First International Logistics Congress held in Lisbon in April 2004.

Operational support to the logistic operators, to the cargo transports and fleets of big corporations, where the solutions are based upon real-time on-line fleet management, with route management, point of delivery, merchandise temperature, delivery and sales reports, over GPRS/GSM Tetra, Trunking and PMR Radio.

Besides the fleet management, cost reduction through localization services, like, waste time reduction, higher performance, risk reduction, higher time-management performance and integration with gas usage, maintenance programs, insurance costs, associated with a nationwide technical maintenance service.

The connection with the telecommunication markets associated with localization based services (GPS) is a value added point for the customers, as a company with large experience in Telecom & IT associated with Logistics.

For an integrated logistics management, we combine technologies, as GPS for localization services, with GPRS/GSM, Satellite, TETRA, Trunking, radio, with navigation solutions, RFID asset tracking technologies, usage of PDA or other for a variety of a logistic applications that we can incorporate in our software, or with which our software can be incorporated.

Com-UT presented the solutions for Fleet Management and its economic advantages on 26 & 27 of November of 2003 in the Marriott Hotel of Lisbon, in the International Fleet Management Congress, organized by IFE .

In this presentation Com-UT showed the main performances of the equipments, enhancing the fact that the localization is done by GPS and the communications via GPRS with a back-up in GSM, in the base model.

The communications are always done in one technology, having always a second one in back-up (GPRS, GSM, TETRA, Satellite, Trunking, PMR, etc…)

In this Congress with the presence of the three Portuguese mobile operators, Vodafone, TMN and Optimus, the main enterprises of the transportation sector and some public entities, Com-UT presented a practical case of interest, namely the Navarra Police, where TETRA is used as the basic communication system to and from the vehicles.

This Congress was important as a presentation tool of the products and specially in showing the advantages of having a GPRS connection for data transmission. Therefore the assistance was interested in the new communications technologies, the possible cost reductions with the same and the high level of integration with peripheral equipments, as PDAs, measuring and control equipments, .meters, sensors, etc…
